General Information
The Practical Nursing program is a self-paced program that can be completed in 12-24 months; the student must attend a minimum of 24 hours per week. Classroom hours are from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM -3 PM on Friday. The program consists of 50% theory and 50% clinical activities. Clinical rotations are the only portion of this course that is not flexible. The course is designed for the disciplined self-motivated student and prepares them to take the NCLEX exam for Licensed Practical Nursing.
The potential student must complete the admissions process, which include a reading and math test and capabilities assessment. The preference point system of admission also gives credit for life experiences as well as test scores. The advanced standing policy may assist the student in placing previous learning in place of parts of the program. WWTC Practical Nursing program is accredited by the ODCTE and Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
The program includes time in the classroom for theory instruction, laboratory practice of skills, and clinical practice where laboratory skills and theory knowledge is applied. Students rotate through area hospitals and nursing homes performing procedures and providing patient care. This requires additional commuting to the regional and metro area facilities. Field trips to metropolitan hospitals are also part of the students learning experiences.
Program Entrance Information
